It has been a long time for a new Whitetail Hunter's Almanac. Doc's last Almanac — his 9th Edition — was published over 20 years ago in 1997. This paperback combines all of Doc's best information from his first 9 Almanacs, updating the information where necessary, and includes all of his best new information, hunting tactics, and tips from the last 20 years.
If you are one of Doc's thousands of avid followers, then you are going to love this book.
If you are a young deer hunter, have never met Doc in person, or have simply never heard of Doc, then you should know a few things about him. First, through his books, videos, DVDs, website, blog, more than 800 magazine articles, famous hunting schools and countless seminars, Doc has directly trained hundreds of thousands of deer hunters. Second — indirectly — his scientific research on whitetails and deer hunting, his description of the five phases of the whitetail's four-month rut, his pioneering use of tree stands, his promotion of tree stands, his research on how to hunt from tree stands, his research on buck lures, his research on deer sign and his research on hunting tactics has influenced how almost every deer hunter hunts whitetails today. Literally, nobody has done more for deer hunting than Dr. Ken Nordberg.
Speaking of hunting tactics, be sure to learn all about Doc's newest, and best deer hunting tactic called, Opportunistic Stand Hunting.
A little about this 508 page, 8x10 inch book. It is a black and white paperback with a color cover. Inside, there are 376 grayscale photos and 19 black and white diagrams. (On a separate website there is an ebook version that provides quite a large number of preview pages that you can read for free. Later this year — maybe next year — we plan on printing a color hardcover collector's edition.) Also, this book has a large number of tips that summarize the key points of critical topics, titled, "To Hunt Like Doc."
