Whitetail Hunter's Almanac, 9th Edition is a guide to Dr. Nordberg's best means of improving hunting for mature-bucks and other deer ever. The heart of this hunting method is a loop or network of connecting deer trails referred to as a “cruise trail,” inspired by hunting grey wolves. Cruise trails provide many unusual advantages. When cleared of fallen branches, they are quickly adopted by older bucks. Every day of a hunt, they provide a means of locating fresh deer tracks and droppings on trails and at sites currently being used by specific classes of deer, right now, likely later today and likely tomorrow morning — next spots to stand hunt. If done right, they can be used daily without without seriously spooking deer along the way. They become main routes to connecting stand site approach trails, thus helping to limit the spread of ruinous human trail scents and preserving sizable no-human-scent areas in which whitetails can maintain normal (predictable) habits throughout a hunting season. All this greatly improves stand hunting success right up until the last day of a hunt. Cleaned cruise trails and stand site approach trails (also existing deer trails) hidden from deer by dense cover and or high intervening terrain enable the hunter to hike quickly, quietly and unerringly to stand sites day or night (when marked with fluorescent tacks), thus helping to preserving the hunting value of intended stand sites. Cruise trails are also the best routes to use when transporting deer from the wilds. Cruise trails thus provide all these benefits, even in cornfields.

John Nordberg, Dr. Nordberg’s oldest son adds, “This is the last in the currently available series of the Whitetail Hunter's Almanac. Dr. Nordberg is now writing his 10th Edition. He certainly still has much to teach and many new stories to tell. I also hopes he writes a large hard-cover whitetail-hunter's-bible-type book, and an outdoor game cookbook. He is one of the best outdoor game cooks you will ever come across. When we get a buck back into camp, we almost always enjoy some of his great cooking, and as an honor to the animal, venison heart and tenderloins. As to the content of this book, the information on trails is very sophisticated. Obviously, it was intended to help readers of his early Almanacs to refine their hunting techniques. He ends the book with some examples of bucks we harvested in our hunting group. These stories are illustrated with detailed trail maps like the ones you see in the background image on his website. Get yourself a copy and complete your Dr. Ken Nordberg's Whitetail Hunter's Almanac Collection if you haven't already done so.”
