Dr. Ken Nordberg's Trophy Bear Hunting School is now available in a 2-disc DVD set with 3 1/2 hours of instruction. It includes both classroom instruction and field instruction. The videos on these DVDs were filmed by his son, John, during his last two Buck and Bear Hunting Schools in 2004 and 2005 in northern Minnesota (he retired from giving this school in 2005). All of the photos & slides from these schools were digitally remastered by John, who produced this set of DVDs.

Dr. Nordberg’s first edition of Do-It-Youself Black Bear Baiting and Hunting was based on 18 years of careful field research in a little known part of big game hunting — hunting black bears with bait. Published in 1988, it quickly changed the way black bears were hunted all across North Ametica and became the “Black Bear Hunter’s Bible.” The hunting instructions in this book were so good that they practically guaranteed any hunter could successfully take a black bear during a very first hunt. It also also provided instructions that enabled a hunter to key exclusively on much more difficult to hunt trophy-class black bears — boars weighing 300 pounds or more. His 2nd edition, published in 2001, was written to provide answers to a growing dilemma experienced by bear hunters everywhere: more and more bears, especially older bears, were feeding on baits during nighttime hours only. This was largely due to the fact that more and more hunters were making more and more mistakes that were alarming more and more bears during daylight hours — hunting in the morning, for example, providing bait in the morning or evening, going to a bait site to hunt too late in the afternoon, hunting too close to a road or other hunters and/or using an ATV to travel to and from bait sites, to name a few. Doc's 3rd edition, an ebook published in 2014 on Apple’s Itunes, provides a host of more precautions now necessary for taking stand- or bait-smart, especially-elusive, trophy-class boars weighing 300 pounds or more, normally nocturnal. Information and instructions provided in this book in conjunction with information and instructives provided in his latest Bear Hunting School DVDs, including a sequence in which his grandson, Tyler, takes his first bear, provide the most complete and productive hunting instructions for taking trophy-class black bears available today. These DVDs are packed with useful information, expertise, photos, and stories that you just will not find anywhere else.

If you are new to black bear hunting these 2 DVDs will explain all the key steps that you need to follow — using gun or bow — to take your first bear using bait. These videos will teach you how to find and identify bait/stand sites that provide the best odds for hunting success, how to prepare a tree stand and bait crib for successful gun or archery hunting, which baits to use, how much and when to provide baits, how to use a positioning bait to ensure a perfect shot, how to properly field dress a black bear, how to keep delicious bear meat and the beautiful hides of black bears from quickly spoiling and much more.

Be sure to check your local laws and regulations for baiting and hunting where you plan to hunt black bears because they may prohibit methods and/or the use of some baits Dr. Nordberg recommends.

If you have hunted black bears before, and now want to take an elusive trophy class bear, Doc explains how to do it and avoid making the critical mistakes so commonly made by most bear hunters today in his school DVDs and in his Third Edition of Do-It-Yourself Black Bear Baiting and Hunting. If you aren’t able to hunt black bears very often or if you are considering bear hunting for the first time, learn how to avoid making common mistakes from Dr. Nordberg. You will know how to spend less time, less money and less effort and your odds for success will be much greater. You won't be sorry. The $25 to $30 you'll spend on this critical instruction is a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of your costs. Your first successful bear hunt will be an adventure of a life-time.

If you are a black bear hunting guide, then most likely, you already have heard of Dr. Ken Nordberg's Do-It-Yourself Black Bear Baiting & Hunting books. If you do not yet have them, invest in a copy of both his book and in this set of DVDs. More of your clients will be pleased with their hunts and your reputation as a bear guide will grow. Moreover, upon preparing your hunters to use positioning bait, fewer will merely wound bears and the need to track and finish potentially dangerous wounded bears at night will be greatly diminished.

John Nordberg, Dr. Nordberg’s oldest son adds, “My father is the author of the 1990, 2001 & 2014 Do-it-Yourself Black Bear Baiting & Hunting books. A lot of people have been contacting me about these books — trying to find a copy. Unfortunately the 1st & 2nd editions are out of print. They have been the best manuals on black bear hunting for years. They have been invaluable for all levels of bear hunters, from beginners to bear hunting guides. Your only choices for getting his invaluable, time-tested bear hunting advice today are: purchase his 3rd Edition, a digital ebook through iTunes, and/or purchase his bear hunting school DVDs. (There will be an Amazon version of his bear book soon.) Also, this set of DVDs makes a great gift for any hunter that has either hunted bears or has dreamed about hunting bears for the first time.”
